Governing Board Member; Culver City Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

1. Make Balanced Budget Cuts That Don't Hurt our Students Preserve counselors, small class sizes, and aides for our most needy populations

Don't cut music, arts, and sports programs

Eliminate administrative perks and inflated consultant fees

Partner with city to find joint cost savings

2. Increase Safety and Security While Decreasing Bullying Use preventative techniques including increased campus supervision

Intervene early, incorporating parent involvement and data-based solutions

Establish peer mentorship programs

Employ anti-bullying training for teachers, staff and parents

3. Involve All Stakeholders in the Decision-Making Process Create or strengthen committees to propose solutions regarding important school district issues including budget, safety, arts, and health

Include parents, students, staff, and community members on all committees

4. Make Schools Greener Apply for grants from the EPA and other sources to convert buses to natural gas and install solar panels

Support student environmental clubs on all campuses

Create green building design standards for future construction

Promote school gardens

5. Bring Transparency and Openness Televise all school board meetings live from a location big enough to hold all that want to participate

Make all documents needed to participate intelligently in the meetings available to the public at least 3 full working days before the meeting

Make sure that important documents needed to make informed budget decisions (like a copy of the budget, the district's organizational chart, and job descriptions for each employee) are created and provided to the public on the website and at each and every budget meeting
