Dr. Anthony R. (Tony) Fellow is Chair and Professor of Communications at California State University, Fullerton, where he heads one of the nation's largest university departments.

He was named in 2007 a Fulbright Scholar by the U.S. President's Commission and was assigned to Italy where he held the Vercelli Chair of Twentieth Century Media History at the University of Piemonte. Following his appointment, Cal State Fullerton Dean Rick Pullen called Fellow an "exemplary scholar with a strong reputation."

He has written three books, including American Media History, Copy Editors Handbook for Newspapers, and Writing in a Multimedia World. He is a frequent speaker at national and international media conferences.

Before entering university teaching, he was a reporter, political columnist, and city editor for 10 years with the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. He covered the presidencies of Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter for the Thomson Newspapers. He continues to write newspaper columns on politics and water issues.

Fellow received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the Annenberg School for Communication, University of Southern California, where he was a Walter H. Annenberg Fellow. He also received an M.A. from Cal State Fullerton. He also has done extensive graduate work in political science in the areas of Soviet and Latin American politics.

In addition, he was an adjunct professor of journalism in USC's Annenberg School for Communication for five years.

Fellow has served as First Vice Chair of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. He represents Division 1 (serving the cities of El Monte, South El Monte, Arcadia, Temple City and Monrovia) on the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District where he was first elected in 1990. He also is an officer on the executive board of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership.

He also was appointed to the Los Angeles County Water Appeals Board by Supervisor Gloria Molina.

He was vice mayor and councilman in the City of El Monte for 7 years and ran for the California State Assembly. U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein nominated Fellow for a position in the U.S. Department of Interior during the presidency of Bill Clinton.

He is married to Clara Potes-Fellow, a former award-winning journalist who served as Bill Clinton's press secretary for Hispanic media in California during his first run for the White House. She is currently Chancellor Charles Reed's press secretary and director of media for the California State University System.
