Ballot Statement

By Ben Escobedo

Candidate for Governing Board Member; El Monte Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
As a graduate of El Monte schools, I recognize how far our high school district has come. I also recognize how much more we can do to prepare our students to attend college. Technology innovations have made it possible for us to do more for less and to prepare students for a competitive market.

The state is facing major financial problems and cutting deeply into educational programs. We must work hard to protect the district's proven programs in these challenging economic times. We must maintain programs that help our students meet state standards. We must keep our students safe. We must maintain open communication with parents, teachers, staff and administrators. As we balance our budget, we must not compromise the quality instruction our students deserve.

Over the years I have held many positions including serving as an advisor to a congresswoman, an advisor to a councilmember and as a non-profit manager, but I was most inspired when teaching students. With your help, I will work hard as a board member to make sure our district provides for the needs of our children. Thank you for your consideration and I humbly ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 3rd.
