Willie D. Carson

(Biography)

Willie D. Carson became a resident in the City of Compton in 1954, when he moved there with his family at the age of four. He attended Charles W. Bursch Elementary School, Enterprise Middle School and graduated from Compton High School in 1968. He started working for the Compton Unified School District as a student worker at the early age of sixteen.

Mr. Carson was hired as a custodian by Compton Unified School District in 1971, and he worked his way up to the position of Director of Operations & Maintenance having only a high school diploma. After retiring from CUSD in 2001, he went to work for Compton Community College where he retired after five years in the position of Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation.

Willie Carson, one of eleven children himself, father of six, and grandfather of nine, has been a pillar in the community. He has also served in his church as head elder and assistant pastor for over 25 years. He is a man of integrity and will be a great asset as Board Member for Compton Unified School District.
