No Parcel Tax - Glendorans Are Taxed Enough

By Linda S. (Shirley) Boyd

Candidate for Governing Board Member; Glendora Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
The current school board is considering a parcel tax on Glendorans. They haven't even spent all the money voters gave them through Prop. G yet.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported on July 28, 2009 that the Glendora School Board discussed hiring a consultant for a proposed parcel tax at it's meeting the night before.

Just three years ago Glendora voters approved a large bond meaure, Measure G, to renovate Glendora schools. They are still spending that money, most visibly today a major project at Goddard Middle School.

A tax increase now is a bad idea for that reason alone. We are also in the midst of a serious economic recession, and earlier this year had the largest state tax increase in history imposed on us. Glendorans are taxed enough!

The District just closed Williams Elementary School in June. These overhead savings should be applied so that new taxes are not needed. I will make sure of that as your representative on the School Board.
