Should the Los Angeles Unified School District fully and adequately investigate the selection of other sites for the construction of the new South Region No. 8 High School, including alternative sites that were previously recommended by the City of Maywood and the community?

Impartial Analysis
The California Elections Code authorizes the Maywood City Council to pass a resolution ordering the submission of an advisory vote to allow voters within the City to voice their opinions on substantive issues, or to indicate to the City Council approval or disapproval of the ballot proposal. The results of the vote are meant to be an indication of general voter opinion regarding the ballot proposal and will not bind the City Council.

A “yes” vote on this measure is a vote advising the City Council that the voters are in favor of having the Los Angeles Unified School District fully investigate the selection of another site, other than the one proposed between Slauson Avenue, 57th Avenue, King Avenue and Mayflower Avenue, for the construction of the new South Region No. 8 High School. A “no” vote on this measure is a vote advising the City Council that the voters are against a full investigation of alternative sites.
