Should the Los Angeles Unified School District acquire, by negotiated sale or eminent domain, 10 single family parcels, 29 multi-family parcels, 7 commercial parcels and 1 vacant parcel within a site bounded by Slauson Avenue to the south, 57th Avenue to the north, King Avenue to the west and Mayflower Avenue to the east for the construction of the new South Region No. 8 High School?

Impartial Analysis
The California Elections Code authorizes the Maywood City Council to pass a resolution ordering the submission of an advisory vote to allow voters within the City to voice their opinions on substantive issues, or to indicate to the City Council approval or disapproval of the ballot proposal. The results of the vote are only meant to be an indication of general voter opinion regarding the ballot proposal and will not bind the City Council.

A “yes” vote on this measure is a vote advising the City Council that the voters are in favor of having the Los Angeles Unified School District acquire, by negotiated sale or eminent domain, 10 single-family parcels, 29 multi-family parcels, 7 commercial parcels and 1 vacant parcel within a site bounded by Slauson Avenue to the south, 57th Avenue to the north, King Avenue to the west, and Mayflower Avenue to the east, for the construction of the new South Region No. 8 High School. A “no” vote on this measure is a vote advising the City Council that the voters are against such an acquisition.
