I appreciate you taking the time to read my qualifications and resume for the position of Magisterial District Judge to fill the seat of retiring MDJ Benjamin Crahalla, of which I will be a candidate for in the upcoming primary on Tuesday, May 19th.

Judge Crahalla has served our community for 22 years and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for his commitment to our community.

I am the only candidate to have held and currently hold an elected position. As a member of Collegeville Borough Council for 12 years, I have volunteered countless hours to our community and have heard the concerns of our residents and understand the needs our community.

CERTIFICATION: Certified since 2006 with the Commonwealth of PA to perform the duties of Magisterial District Judge. Holds current certification with all required updates.

"Magisterial district judges, arraignment court magistrates and judges of the Philadelphia traffic court who are not members of the bar of this Commonwealth shall complete a course of training and instruction in the duties of their respective offices and pass an examination prior to assuming office." Judicial Code (42 Pa C.S.A. §3112)

PERSONAL INFORMATION: Thirty year resident of Collegeville and Lower Providence Montgomery County, (resided in Eagleville 13 years, and Collegeville 17 years) Co-Owner of Stagliano's Barber Shop, Collegeville Shopping Center Member of Saint Eleanor's parish. Former member of Visitation BVM parish. Married to Albert Stagliano, 2 daughters (27 & 32 years old), 2 stepdaughters, 3 grand children

PUBLIC SERVICE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS:: Served for 12 years as Collegeville Borough Councilmember, Vice President from 2004 to 2007 and President from 2008 to 2009 Police & Public Safety Committee Chairperson - 1999 to 2008:

  • Championed Collegeville Borough's Sexual Predator Ordinance. The first such ordinance adopted in Montgomery County.
  • Supervised court mandated Community Service defendants.
  • Researched and introduced a Student Home ordinance for Collegeville Borough. The student home ordinance protects the neighborhoods of Collegeville by restricting the number in a household and where college students can live.
  • Completed required course under Homeland security to be Collegeville key personnel under the National Incident Management System

Parks & Recreation Committee Chairperson - 1998 to Current:
  • Chaired and organized the Collegeville Veteran's Memorial Committee. Raised over $75,000 in public and private funds for the construction of the Collegeville Veteran's Memorial.
  • Organized the redevelopment of the Collegeville Community Park. Redesigned (new basketball/hockey courts, pavilion, play equipment, walking path, dugouts, lighting) Collegeville Community Park using grant and private sector money, got community groups involved using grant, private sector money and in-kind services without tax payer dollars. Obtained grant funding for new playground equipment and park pavilion.
  • Work with Lower Perkiomen Valley Little League, St. Eleanor's CYO Baseball, Collegeville Black Sox, Collegeville Blue Sox, ball teams.
  • Restored Collegeville Boy Scout cabin. Used volunteers to refurbish the cabin to be better serve area boy and girl scouts.
  • Created the Collegeville Summer Concert Series. Organize and schedule the annual concert series
  • Organized a 9/11 candlelight remembrance to honor involved numerous police and fire departments and victims of 9/11.
