Open Minded, Impartial and Fair JusticeBy Karen McLellanCandidate for Judge; Magisterial District Court; District 05-02-40 | |

The office of Magistrate needs to be able to hear and evaluate both sides of an argument without bias. This office must deliver a finding based only on the facts of the case.I believe that the Northside must have an impartial and fair District Judge for the community to continue to flourish. This will become even more important when the casino opens. My experience over the last 30 years has included Patrol, Negotiator, Communications, Instructor, Firearms Detective and Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator. This allows me to bring an unrivaled skill set to the Office of District Judge. As a patrol officer you see the best and worst of people and learn not to judge people by their appearance. As a negotiator you learn to defuse the situation and work towards a peaceful result. As Coordinator of the Crisis Intervention Team I learned of Allegheny County's many resources available to its residents and how to access them. It has also taught me about mental illness and how to better deal with and help the people who suffer with this disease. As you can see the skill set that I will bring to the Office would be beneficial to the community as a whole. |
