Issue #3By Daniel TaborCandidate for Council Member; City of Inglewood; District 1 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Neighborhood and Home Ownership PreservationOver 1,000 Inglewood home owners in our district are in danger of foreclosure. In January of 2008, with the partnership of the Community Development Corporation of First Church of God, Center of Hope, and the Los Angeles Neighborhood Housing Services, I convened the first "Home Ownership Preservation Workshop" for Inglewood residents. More than 200 home owners attended and received knowledgeable and compassionate assistance. That was just the beginning. Home owners were able to restructure their loans, get extensions, or pursue other housing options while preserving their credit scores and credit histories. I am also working with the City's Housing and Planning Departments to acquire vacant foreclosed properties before empty properties become sources of nuisance or danger. We'll rehabilitate the foreclosed properties with local labor and contractors, and then put the homes on the market to increase home ownership among Inglewood residents. Neighborhood Preservation is key to Inglewood's prosperity, along with yours and mine. |
