Full Biography for Jonathan Friedman
Candidate for |

|
Los Angeles native Jonathan Friedman is a Chartered Financial Analyst and an expert in tax policy and financial issues. With these unique qualifications, Friedman will ensure that we never revisit the budget crisis that brought California to the brink of bankruptcy in 2009. Friedman graduated with top honors from both UCLA (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and the Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania (With Distinction, Beta Gamma Sigma). He spent several years working in New York financial institutions before returning home to Los Angeles sixteen years ago. Friedman is currently a small business owner and a consultant specializing in financial analysis. Los Angeles-area Congressman Howard L. Berman honored Friedman in 2001 with a speech on the floor of the U. S. House of Representatives, where he noted: "I frequently turn to Jonathan for analysis of legislative proposals in tax and financial matters. His counsel in these areas (and many others) has been invaluable to me." Friedman is deeply involved in community organizations. He has served on the Board of the South Robertson Neighborhoods Council, Inc., for nearly ten years. The organization is a coalition including homeowners and business owners dedicated to revitalizing and beautifying the community. Significantly involved in UCLA alumni activities, Friedman served on the board of the Friends of the UCLA Library for eleven years, and also served as the organization's treasurer. Friedman became involved in the Bruin Democrats while an undergraduate at UCLA and he continues to be involved in Democratic politics today. Friedman served as an officer of Democrats for Israel - Los Angeles, from 1993 to 2000 and as an alternate delegate to the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Friedman has also served as a member of California's Democratic State Central Committee since 1993. Friedman spends considerable time and effort on pro-Israel causes. He has been involved in AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, for almost three decades, and currently serves on the National Executive Committee. He is also involved in the World Alliance for Israel Political Action Committee, where he serves as the Democratic Co-Chair and Vice President. |
