Political Philosophy for Charles Nelson
Candidate for |

Many of you already know me through my community work for a better Pasadena over the 17 years I've lived in our very unique city. I now believe my skills are most needed on the Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education and I'm asking for your support to win our March 10 election. Since I'm not a politician, I'll need your valuable endorsements, donations and votes to put me where I can do the most good for our children's future. On the board, I will provide careful oversight for the newly adopted Measure TT + imposing the local hiring ordinance, resurrecting educational options that include vocational/technical training and career paths in music and art and, most importantly, championing the highest standards of student achievement. Now more than ever, our educational system must prepare our children for a competitive global economy where their high-caliber preparedness and innovative ideas will guarantee American's leadership and national security in the world. Serving as a Public Works Administrator, I get results that benefit the entire community, and as an active public leader, I find ways to do more with less, something we will all face in the coming years. As part of the John Muir High School Reinvention Team, I helped organize and structure the Business and Entrepreneur Academy for grades 10 through 12. I serve as Vice-Chair of the Northwest Commission and have worked on the Citizens' Oversight Committee for Measure Y and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. March 10 is fast approaching and your support will make the critical difference in my becoming your advocate on the school board. Please call me with your ideas and concerns. I'll be happy to meet with you and to work with you to ensure that Pasadena maintains its high educational standards and its outstanding quality of life. |
