As a West Lampeter Township Supervisor in Lancaster County, I have had the privilege
of working with members of the agricultural industry on issues ranging from property
rights to farmland preservation, farm-based business and everything in between. These
experiences have strengthened in me the resolve to protect and grow the agricultural
sector of our economy + which is also the economic engine of Pennsylvania.
As Senator, I will continue my efforts at allowing farmers the opportunity for
agricultural-related, farm-based businesses that help them supplement their income (and
also preserve their land from development).
Those in the agricultural and food industries have common problems with all business in Pennsylvania when it comes to the rising cost of healthcare, an outrageous tax structure, workers compensation insurance, and other items.
Addressing these issues with common sense ideas + removing costly state mandates from healthcare policies, providing greater tax credits to businesses and the self-employed for
health coverage, reducing business taxes, and making workers compensation a more fair
system + will help ensure the continued success of the agricultural and food industries +
along with every other business in the state.
Most importantly, I will always be available to listen to the concerns of those in the
agricultural and food industries. Only in this way can I find out their priorities that I must
be fighting for in Harrisburg to ensure them a prosperous future.
