Reduce the size of LegislatureBy Amy Jude SchmotzerCandidate for State Senator; District 37 | |

I will fight to reduce the size of the State Legislature.Considering that the State Senate will work a total of 9 days from July 5, 2008 to January 2, 2009, the taxpayers are not getting their monies worth. 9 Session days in Harrisburg in 6 months + that's ridiculous with all of the problems facing our State. A 3 Billion dollar shortfall in Revenue is projected for Pennsylvania and the State Senate is off until next year. My plan would call for the State senate to be reduced from 50 members to 40. The State House to be reduced from 203 members to 121 members. The savings for these reductions would be around 92 million dollars. |
