Environmetal Protection, Clean Renewable Energy

By Glenn S. Pare'

Candidate for State Representative; Fifth Barnstable District

This information is provided by the candidate
On Cape Cod, we live within a very fragile environment which is threatened in many ways. We need to work on local and regional solutions so we can reveerse damage done and seek to improve our environment into the future.
Environmental Protection -+ As a small peninsula, the Cape is directly and significantly challenged by pollution from one of the Commonwealth's worst polluting power-plants, from military chemicals spreading in plumes and tainting our ground water, from waste water and outmoded septic systems, and run off of contaminants into our ponds, marshes, and coastal waters. As State Rep., I will work to help develop a region-wide plan and then provide create the long-term programs and funding mechanisms for local and regional efforts to care for and protect our fragile environment.

I am all for renewal energy and finding alternative sources. I support the Cape Wind Farm. The wind farm has been approved by every possible regulatory agency, National Audubon Society study indicates turbines will not be harmful to migratory animals, and owners will have to post a bond for the eventual removal of equipment should the effort fail.
