I pledge to do my utmost to build upon our successes in the Santa Paula Elementary School District.As the current President of the Board of Education it is an honor to have served the children and community of Santa Paula for the past four years. Since retiring from my position as Detective Sergeant with the Santa Paula Police Department, I have been able to dedicate myself to the task of being a Board Member, by attending "Masters in Governance" courses for the last two years. The challenges of declining enrollment, the No Child Left Behind mandates, and the reduction in funding due to the State's fiscal crisis have been daunting, but not overwhelming. The current board has worked collaboratively by coming together to solve problems and move forward in the best interests of our students and employees. Currently I am working to establish a foundation to raise funds for our schools. These funds will be used for Fine Arts, Music, Sports, and other worthwhile programs for our students. The knowledge I have gained, the projects that are now in place, and my vision for the future of the Santa Paula Elementary School District inspires me to serve another term as a School Board Member. |
