Suza Francina I was elected to the Ojai City Council in 1996 and served as mayor of Ojai in 2000. During my term I served on the Ventura County Transportation Commission and spearheaded the adoption of Ojai's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. I'm proud to say that during my four year term, I never missed a single meeting. I grew up in Ojai and remember when thousands of people came to our valley from all over the world to hear the philosopher Krishnamurti. Most of these visitors returned year after year and boosted the local economy. I know the history of Ojai and believe that Ojai has a destiny that will continue to attract large numbers of visitors if we will focus on what it is that makes Ojai so special and unique. In the fifty-one years that I've lived here, I've worn many hats. I am the mother of two grown children and spent many years teaching and volunteering in our local schools. I understand the needs of families. I also worked as a home health care provider and I am an advocate for seniors. I understand the needs of the older members of our community. I am a yoga teacher, a small-business owner and understand what it's like to work seven days a week to keep ones business viable. I am also a professional writer, specializing in health and environmental issues and author of four books. After I made the decision not to run for re election in 2000, I continued researching sustainable city planning. Now that more people understand that my proposals to make Ojai a model green community also make good economic sense, I feel that the time is right for me to serve on the Council again. I invite you to visit my web site, SuzaForOjai.Com, to learn more about my vision for Ojai.
