Candidate for
Council Member; City of Port Hueneme

My wife Donna and I have lived in Port Hueneme for almost 16 years. Our children have attended Hueneme Elementary, Blackstock Junior High, and Oxnard High School. Donna served on the PTA as Treasurer for many years.

I am a combat decorated US Navy Vietnam Veteran with 11 years of military service and I am a Life Member of VFW Post 3935 here in Port Hueneme.

I hold a Masters Degree in Public Administration from California State University Northridge.

I served 10 years as the Public Works Director for the City of Port Hueneme. I know the community well and I know the issues facing the City. I have extensive experience working successfully with various community groups within the City, and with neighboring agencies regarding beneficial projects and programs that have helped to secured the quality of life for the citizens of Port Hueneme.

Overall I have 27 years of Municipal experience including Director positions at municipal Sanitation and Water Districts here in California protecting the environment and providing vital services to the communities. I have successfully managed multi-million dollar construction projects, obtained State and Federal Grants to reduce local costs, improved operational and personnel efficiencies thereby reducing costs, negotiated long-range critical contracts to secure water, protect the environment, improve recycling, and generate revenue to local communities.

I retired last year (2007), so I have the time, experience, formal education and desire to serve on the Port Hueneme City Council. I am running for City Council because I love Port Hueneme and I want to use many years of extensive experience and formal education to help Port Hueneme balance its budget, provide efficient and effective services, and keep our community safe.
