My financial background is a key asset to Riverbank's City Council and the direction and oversight of our city.With the decline in the economic markets everyone is in for a bit of a bumpy ride in the coming year or two. It is vital that the person at the helm of the governing body of the city has a financial background. I have been in the accounting profession for nearly twenty years and have had oversight over dozens of companies' books. The main difficulty for the City Council and their required oversight of the city's books is time. We all have full time jobs and it is difficult to find the time to keep our finger on the pulse of every detail of every transaction that passes through the city. That is why I am working closely with the city's auditors and the city's Finance Director to put measures in place that are "outside of the box" in order to make it easier for the Council to be accurately informed and fulfill our fiduciary duty to the residents of Riverbank. |
