Assemblymember Kevin Jeffries took the oath of office in December 2006 to represent the constituents of the 66th Assembly District in the California State Legislature. A native Californian, Kevin moved to Riverside County in 1971 where he has worked as President and partner of his family's investment firm for over 25 years. Kevin has a distinguished history of public safety with 29 years and over 4000 emergency responses as a Volunteer Fire Captain specializing in logistics and resources for large scale emergency operations. Additionally, Kevin served as grant writer and program manager for the Riverside County Fire Department before being elected into the State Assembly. Bringing over 18 years of local government experience to the State Assembly, Kevin has been active in his community as a Western Municipal Water District Director, Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District Director, Riverside County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) Director, Lake Elsinore Parks and Recreation District Director, and Riverside County Parks Advisory commission member. Kevin has a proven history of fighting for fiscally conservative, pro-jobs/pro-small business values. Kevin's adept ability to work in a challenging political environment has resulted in ten (10) of his bills successfully passing out of the State Assembly in the first half of 2008. In the Assembly, Kevin is the Vice-Chairman of the Public Employees, Retirement and Social Security (PERSS) Committee, and sits on the influential Governmental Organization (GO) and the Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committees. He serves as Chair to the Rural Fire Protection Working Group, is a member of the Assembly Republican Working Group on Water Storage, and active in the Assembly Republican Budget Reform Working Group. Kevin and his wife Christina have been married for 26 years. They reside in Lake Elsinore and have two children, one of which attends California State University, Sacramento and the other working as a Heavy Equipment Operator. |
