EducationBy Anna M CaballeroCandidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 28 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I believe that California's public education system should be number one in our country. Every child should be taught the basic skills necessary to hold down a job that supplies a middle-class living. I support early childhood education, advanced technology in the classroom, and vocational education training. I will work to ensure that our schools are funded and all children have the opportunity to succeed.I believe that California's public educational system should be number one in the country. First and foremost, we must ensure that our schools are adequately funded. While California has one of the most robust and largest economies in the world, it spends a smaller share of its personal income on K-12 education than the US as a whole. We must not neglect public education, and if re-elected to the Assembly, I will work to ensure that the state increases funding to our schools. In addition, I believe that we need to allow teachers to take a greater role in school-district decision-making. Teachers should participate in test-book and curriculum selection, as well as testing method selection. In addition, I will support class-size reduction, greater incentives for teacher recruitment, and other issues that will increase school performance. |
