This information is provided by the candidate |
As U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson says, "Mike has proven to be an effective, focused and qualified leader in our community. He is open-minded, fair and dedicated to solving real problems."Mike McGuire has proven leadership and experience. His record on the Healdsburg School Board shows his ability to work with, and listen to all sides, and forge workable solutions. It was for this reason that he was twice chosen as board president, and is endorsed by both the president and majority of the school board, as well as the co-presidents of the Healdsburg Area Teacher's Association. Besides Congressman Thompson, Mike is endorsed by a broad coalition of supporters including State Senator Wes Chesbro, Assemblywoman Patty Berg, and the majority of the Healdsburg City Council members. He has the endorsement of both the leading Sonoma County environmental organization - Sonoma County Conservation Action, and the leading business group - the Sonoma County Alliance. Mike has also been involved with supporting the schools as a board member on the Healdsburg Education Foundation. Along with Lisa Licea, he started the Starving Student Leadership scholarship, funded by hosting a yearly barbecue. He has been active in Little League, Healdsburg Rotary, and the United Way. As Healdsburg teacher Pat Sabo says, "Mike doesn't just discuss the issues, he actively makes a difference." Mike is proud of his accomplishments on the school board:
