As a lifelong Sunset resident, a father, a successful businessman and a community leader, Ron Dudum is uniquely qualified to represent the Sunset and Parkside as a member of the Board of Supervisors in District 4. Son of the Sunset It's the perspective of a lifetime that gives Ron Dudum special insight into the needs and concerns of his neighborhood, the Sunset District. Ron Dudum is a product of the San Francisco public schools. As a boy, Ron walked to Lawton Elementary School. He rode MUNI to A.P. Giannini Middle School and Lincoln High School. Ron has a BS in Small Business Management and Consulting and a Masters in Business Administration concentrating in Business Analysis and Operations Research from San Francisco State University. The Sunset/ Westside way of life is one that Dudum's family has always cherished: Ice Skating in the round on 48th Avenue, cub scouts and boy scouts activities at Holy Name, going to Camp Mather and having Herb's meatball sandwiches. With two young adults in college, Ron and his wife Sue have raised three kids in the neighborhood. Their roots remain firmly established in the Sunset. Success in Business As a small businessman, Ron understands first-hand the responsibility of running a business and the role that the city plays in maintaining a strong economy. In the eighties, Ron worked for companies large and small, earning a Masters in Business Administration at S.F. State University. From the mailroom of a local bank to being the top salesperson for a major corporation, Ron has excelled in the workplace. In 1990, Ron started his own business, Desktop X Press, Inc. (DXP). DXP was at the cutting edge of technology supporting digital artists in the field of electronic prepress and Internet publishing. DXP was the first prepress firm in the world able to receive and deliver files over the Internet. With 25 years of business experience, Ron Dudum knows how the city government can work better. Building Community Ron has dedicated countless hours to community service over the past 25 years. Attending neighborhood meetings is a priority. Whether it is advocating for the rebuilding of Sava Pool or attending monthly police meetings, Ron has been a strong voice in the Sunset. He founded the Westside Democratic Club, which advocates on behalf of working families. Dudum has served as Vice Chair of the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee and the Landmark Preservation Board. He was a member of then District Attorney Arlo Smith's Hate Crimes Task Force and was the longest serving board member of the Intergroup Clearinghouse, an organization dedicated to the elimination of hate crimes. He is currently a Board Member of the San Francisco Interfaith Council and on the International Board of the American Near East Refugee Assistance (ANERA). |
