Candidate for
Board Member; Grossmont Union High School District

Larry Urdahl has been a resident of San Diego County since 1950, when his family first settled in the Pacific Beach area. He attended Horace Mann Middle School and graduated from Crawford High School in 1962. After high school he attended San Diego Community College and San Diego State University.

In 1997, Larry and his wife Rose moved to Alpine. Our Daughter Kimberly is a 2007 graduate of Granite Hills High School. An experienced small business owner Larry currently is President of a Spring Valley, CA company that specializes in accounts receivables management, revenue recovery and receivables management consulting.

Larry has a long track record in education that includes serving at the helm of the Alpine High School Citizens Committee, the Grossmont Union High School District Blue Ribbon Committee and on East County Neighbors for Safe Schools, the Committee that passed Proposition H.

In November 2004 Larry was elected to the Governing Board of the Grossmont Union High School District. He presently serves as President of the Board and has been a major force in improving the Grossmont Union High School District.

Larry Urdahl led the effort to develop a strategic vision plan for the Grossmont Union High School District. Larry introduced the idea of a Bond Performance Review. This led to the formation of the Bond Advisory Committee, expansion and reorganization of the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee.

Larry Urdahl also introduced to the Governing Board, professional bond managers which resulted in huge savings for taxpayers.
