Candidate for
Board Member; Oceanside Unified School District

I moved to Oceanside over 30 years with my husband and five children. I have been on the OUSD board for eight years.

All five of my children and two of my ten grandchildren have graduated from Oceanside Schools. I have experienced the challenges of being a parent as well as an educator. I have worked many different jobs in schools from instructional aide,teacher... all the way to a superintendent.

While working as an instructional aide at El Camino High, I realized that education would be my life's work. I also became a believer in life long learning. Ultimately, I earned a Doctorate of Education in curriculum and instruction.

My goal for the students of Oceanside from kindergarten to a high school diploma is to instill in them the same love of learning. I have a vested interest in seeing our local schools not only survive but THRIVE.

My volunteer work includes being the President of the Oceanside Library Board of Trustees, membership in the Oceanside Pacific Kiwanis Club, Education Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, and Chair of the Dictionary Project. The dictionaries are given to 7th grade AVID students in the Oceanside School District. Finally, I am a volunteer for Basset Hound Rescue. I have been a foster mother for nine years and taken care of over fifty Basset Hounds until a new home is found for them.

I have the experience, dedication and devotion to work tirelessly for our students in order to improve academic achievement, keep our schools safe and provide sound fiscal management.
