Three Questions for the CandidateBy Torry BreanCandidate for Board Member; Ramona Community Planning Area | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Three questions and anwers relating to the goals and opinions of this candidate in the 2008 election.Question 1: Why are you running? Why do you think you are the best candidate for this position? I was born and raised in Ramona, this town means a lot to me. It worries me to see planning taking place that is not in the best interest of our community character. I feel that my love for Ramona, previous experience with town issues, and assertive style of leadership gives me a unique opportunity to make a significant positive impact on the long term plan for Ramona. Question 2: What do you hope to accomplish? Protect the medium and large lots that allow for animal keeping, small agriculture, second dwelling units, and general good stewardship of the land. Keep the higher density urban growth in proportion with the amount of jobs available; since there are few entry level jobs in Ramona, we should not be pushing so hard to build more high density living complexes. In addition, the roads in Ramona are drastically insufficient for the current traffic; we need to push hard on the County and CalTrans to get our tax dollars spent locally to fix our transportation problems. Question 3: What is the biggest issue in the election? The general plan should be completed in the next few years; it is of pivotal importance that Ramona's views on how we should grow be represented in this plan. The alternative is to leave all the issues of Ramona's future growth to DPLU employees who live elsewhere. The challenge will be to bring the myriad personalities on the planning group together to form one unified, forceful, and respected voice that can give us the influence needed with the various governments that oversee Ramona. |
