Why is Richard running for the Palomar Board?

Richard has been a Palomar College supporter since he began his college education there and has continued his support for decades.
Richard is running for the Palomar Governing Board because he believes in the community college and its promise of open access to education for all. The role of our community college system is to ensure this opportunity. Borevitz began his own college education at Palomar and graduated from UC Berkeley.

As a life long resident of North County, he and Mary, his wife of 33 years, have 3 children who are all college graduates. The Borevitz Family created Gourmet Gardens, a well-known specialty vegetable farm. Richard currently owns a successful agricultural company he has run for the past 30 years.

Borevitz has devoted his time to Palomar College as a member of:

  • Independent Citizen Oversight Committee for Facility Bond money
  • Presidents' Associates Executive Board Member
  • Palomar College Foundation Board
  • Finance and Investment Committee for the Foundation Board
  • Board Member and Past President Palomar College Arboretum

When elected, Richard will promote:
...efficient construction and proper use of approved Facility Bond money
...harmony between administration and faculty/employees
...the showcasing of Palomar College, its students and its graduates
