I began my 40-year career with the City of Scotts Valley as Secretary, taking the minutes for City Council and Planning Commission Meetings. I later became an emergency dispatcher/supervisor, police officer, juvenile officer, investigator and finally police sergeant. I developed Scotts Valley's first Juvenile Officer Program in 1978 which received State-wide recognition for excellence. The Juvenile Program began under a State grant. I received the Officer of the Year Award three separate years, the Soroptimist International Woman of Achievement Award, the Rotary Paul Harris Award, the Rotary Vocational Service Award, and the Scotts Valley Police Medal of Merit. During my career, I worked with various organizations of local, state and federal government.

Since my retirement, I have continued my civic involvement as President of the Fallen Officer Foundation, Secretary of the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, a member of my church Council, a volunteer for Special Olympics and serve with a Christian Marriage Support Group. I also continue to serve the Scotts Valley Police Department volunteering my time as a Reserve Police Officer and member of the Hostage Negotiation Team.
