Official Sources of Information

Impartial Analysis from Assistant County Counsel
State law provides that a fire protection district board may consist of three, five, seven, nine or eleven members. The Boulder Creek Fire Protection District Board currently consists of three members.

The Board of Directors of the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District has submitted this measure to the voters within the district to determine whether the number of board members should be increased from three to five.

A "yes" vote is a vote in favor of increasing the number of members of the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District Board of Directors from three to five.

Arguments For Measure F
The Boulder Creek Fire Protection District supports measure F, which increases the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District Board of Directors from three to five. For over 100 years the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District has provided a wide range of services to the Brookdale and Boulder Creek communities. The current three-member Board governs a District which covers an area of twenty-one square miles, and a population of approximately 11,000 people. We, the Board of Directors and the Fire Chief support measure F.

Increasing the Board members to five allows for:

  • More community involvement on the Board
  • More efficiency in the Board's role in the Fire District
  • A wider range of input
  • More communication and flexibility between Board members
  • The formation of Board committees to address Fire District issues

The citizens of the Boulder Creek Fire Protection District will benefit from the more diverse views this change will bring to the Fire District.

Please vote yes on measure F.
