Educational Opportunities for Los Altos Hills studentsBy Ginger SummitCandidate for Council Member; Town of Los Altos Hills | |

With the re-opening of the Gardiner Bullis School in September, public education has returned to Los Altos Hills. But the challenge remains to find a permanent home for the highly successful Bullis Charter School.I feel strongly that Los Altos Hills must have quality public schools within our town limits. Neighborhood schools are an important stimulus and focal point for activities for the entire community, not only for the families of students. In September, Gardiner Bullis School was renovated and re-opened after many years of being closed as a community school. I will work hard with Los Altos School District, and neighboring Palo Alto School District, to insure the success of this new school. I also strongly support the Bullis Charter School, which was started with great effort by parents after the closure of the public school. This Charter School has received very impressive recognition for their introduction of innovative programs and outstanding education for all students. It is vital to work with Los Altos School District to locate a permanent home for this highly successful school. Only by keeping the lines of communication open with Palo Alto Unified School District and Los Altos School District can we insure that we as a community may now move forward. As an educator, I am committed to this issue, and will work hard for the residents to make sure that all views and interests are represented. |
