Consolidate Lakeside School District

By Elise Stassart

Candidate for Board Member; Lakeside Joint School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Lakeside School District should be consolidated with LGUSD and Loma Prieta to ensure district students can access an education.
Right now, Lakeside students are required to go all the way to Rolling Hills Middle School for grades 6-9. They then spend up to two hours on a bus every afternoon to get home.

This is unreasonable and unfair. Lakeside District should be split up with a section going to Loma Prieta and a section going to Los Gatos Union School District. This will ensure that residents will have a continuous path from elementary school, middle school and high school.

This will also save the taxpayer money. Seventy cents of every tax dollar goes towards Lakeside administration and overhead, NOT to students.

Lakeside Elementary school should remain open as a "necessary small school", but enrollment will be increased as Los Gatos students will be able to join our fabulous community.
