Why I Am Running Growing up in the Bay Area, I have always been grateful for our state's excellent community college network. This priceless resource helped shape my life, starting with my first college class. I recall how it felt my first day at Foothill College and my first real sense of adulthood, with its freedoms and its responsibility. Transitioning through department management positions in Finance, Information Systems, Manufacturing Operations, and Materials, I often have counted on community college for continuing education to help me and my staff members advance our careers. As Director of Voter Registration and Community Services for my county party executive board, my passion is in helping people connect their voting privilege to the shared services that benefit all our lives. Community college is one of the best examples of this vital connection. Today I work as a business management consultant, living in Campbell with my husband of 20 years (also a community college alum). Our daughter has taken it full circle as she starts her second year attending community college full time. So to me, maintaining a vibrant, business focused, and fiscally sound community college system is truly a family affair. Professional Experience My career over 30 years has included management positions in Finance, Information Systems, Manufacturing Operations, and Materials/Procurement. I currently work with Symphony Consulting delivering supply chain management solutions to local high tech companies. I look forward to putting my strong analytical and facilitation skills to work in addressing complex district issues. My Vision for the District My ideal vision is a well-funded pair of campuses providing a diverse community with the finest education possible, in an environment where students, staff, faculty, and administration feel respected and rewarded for their efforts. My approach will be to seek input from district members and community stakeholders to understand existing barriers to this vision, and support the best possible solutions given very challenging budget realities. Priorities Increasing enrollment to strengthen funding stream. Providing careful fiscal oversight in a difficult economic climate. Making the tough choices as fairly and effectively as possible. Personal After a great start in Mountain View public schools, I worked my way through management school (cum laude) at Golden Gate University. I am also Certified in Integrated Resources Management (CIRM) by APICS: The Association for Operations Management. A fourth generation California native, Campbell has been my home since my husband Bob and I married in 1988. We celebrated our 20th anniversary in August. Our daughter, Kathleen, just started her second year at Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo. Contact (408) 219-4896 Adrienne4WVMCCD@comcast.net |
