Arguments For Measure E2008 |
Measure E, the Buellton Urban Growth Boundary, promotes democracy and civic engagement
by giving voters the right to decide whether Buell-ton expands beyond current City limits. This
right extends through 2025 when the General Plan will be renewed. Measure E strengthens
Buellton's 2025 General Plan, which was designed to enhance the City's unique small-town
character.
Measure E does not affect the siting of schools or public parks on lands adjacent to the City, and it does not change how any planning decisions are made within the City limits. In fact, Measure E encourages revitalization of the City center.
Measure. E upholds the Buellton 2025 General Plan vision of a pedestrian-friendly community with a thriving downtown along the Avenue of Flags. The 2025 General Plan is a carefully designed "blueprint for growth" which embodies the goals upon which the City ofBuellton was founded. The 2025 General Plan was adopted by the City with broad public involvement, and the Plan continues to enjoy wide public support. Measure E promotes vibrant downtown businesses, a more livable community and a high quality of life for Buellton residents. By preventing unrestrained growth, Measure E helps to protect property values, control traffic and avoid overcrowded schools. Measure E protects agriculture, open space and the scenic resources around Buellton. Measure E promotes efficient infrastructure, including water and sewer services, and reduces the need for costly public expenditures. Measure E ensures that the people of Buellton can play a key role in determining the size and character of our community for the duration ofthe Buellton 2025 General Plan. Please vote "YES" on Measure E. Buellton Is Our Town Anita Elovitz, Controlling Officer Judith Evert Dale Kaymond Mayer Alphonso Cerda Vickie L. Sorensen
