As a San Juan School Board Member, I have worked hard to provide the best education for students while maintaining the District's financial solvency. We helped infuse technology throughout San Juan, including providing web sites for every school and teacher, creating a high tech academy that is a national model, and increasing internet white board and computers in the classroom. We have taken great strides to close the achievement gap and ensure that our students have the skills to excel in college and the work force. We have taken dozens of bold initiatives despite incredible financial challenges, including establishing K-8 schools throughout the District, creating a major Career Technical High School that will serve as a model for 21st century learning, and making the open enrollment process easier to access and more equitable. However, there is much more to do. For example, we must work towards building new schools, replacing some that are close to 100 years old, and continuing our technology efforts. We need to continue our important collaboration with teachers and staff to provide the best possible learning environment for students. Supporting public education is among the highest forms of public service. I respectfully ask for your support.
