Board Member; Elk Grove Unified School District; Area 1

The Elk Grove Unified School District is known nation wide for the wide variety of innovative educational programs that it offers its students. As your elected Board Member from Area I, I have worked with my fellow Board Members, district staff and community members in the development of these programs as well as examining and updating graduation standards to ensure our students have the ability to further their educational career. I continue to vigorously support a high quality alternative high school program within the school district. I energetically support the school district's aggressive building and modernization program to make our schools extremely conducive to student learning.

If re-elected I will continue to work with my colleagues, staff and community to improve existing and new educational programs that will include a strong emphasis on reading, reading comprehension, writing, the sciences and mathematics. I will also enthusiastically support the alternative high school program which I believe is a very important part of the Elk Grove Unified School Districts' educational philosophy. I will vigorously support the building program to ultimately relieve overcrowding in our schools. I will continue to support, and work to improve our excellent Vocational Education program.
