Equality and Women's Issues

By Heather Fargo

Candidate for Mayor; City of Sacramento

This information is provided by the candidate
Women's Issues

Mayor Fargo is a strong advocate of Women's rights, whether that means ensuring that women have an equal playing field in the workplace, or supporting a woman's right to choose.

As a woman working in what is still a male dominated business (politics), Mayor Fargo understands the obstacles facing women first hand and works to tear down barriers for women on a daily basis.

As Mayor, Heather Fargo has worked to ensure access to health care for women, supported domestic violence initiatives, and supported programs that help women rebuild their lives after difficult times.

Her support for women's issues has earned her the endorsement of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Advocates and the Sacramento County Democratic Women.

Equal Rights

The Sacramento Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender community has no stronger a supporter than Heather Fargo.

Mayor Fargo's positions on LGBT issues are simple: She supports equal rights for all people.

Nowhere has this been more clearly demonstrated than when she celebrated the Supreme Court decision that granted marriage equality to all Californians by presiding over 4 marriage ceremonies for same sex couples.

She is a strong opponent of the proposed constitutional amendment to reverse the Supreme Court's decision, and will actively campaign against it this fall.

Her support for the LGBT community has earned her the endorsement of the Greater Sacramento Stonewall Democratic Club.
