Strategic Plan: I strongly approve of and support the new 5 Year Strategic Plan approved by the Colton School Board. The entire plan can be viewed at; www.colton.k12.ca.us/html/strategic_planning.html. This is in the first year of implementation. The objectives are
1. To double the percentage of students who perform at the proficient and advanced level on the California Standards Tests.
2. To have at least 95% of our students graduate with a high school diploma.
3. To prepare 100% of our students for successful transition to college and/or a career technical field. Two-Way Immersion I support the new Two-Way Immersion Program being used at Ruth Grimes Elementary School. More information about this program can be found at; www.colton.k12.ca.us/html/two-way_immersion__.html. This program will help non-English speakers more easily move into a true bilingual position.

Safe Schools: I strongly support schools that foster a safe atmosphere. Learning cannot happen in places that are not secure and comfortable. It is important that all involved in the learning process respect, protect, and nurture each other. California School Employees Association (CSEA) I support CSEA. The services and jobs they perform are vital to a school. Whenever possible their jobs need to be preserved and outsourcing avoided.

Financial Accountability: In this time of shrinking revenues, it is vital that the District maximizes its resources and makes the most of the funds that are available. The outcome of Proposition G will provide direction and guidance to the District as far as finances are concerned.
