Ballot Statement

By Jim Walker

Candidate for Council Member; City of Santa Ana; Ward 1

This information is provided by the candidate
Real leadership has a history of accomplishment and a vision of just how we can make a better future.
I strongly believe that a local government that is of the people and for the people, must be made - by the people. This is why I have spent the last 20 years helping to organize homeowners to build safe and healthy neighborhoods, the foundation of a true democracy.

As a City Council Member, I would:
- create real community oriented government,
- establish active "Safety Nets" in every neighborhood, and
- work to make Santa Ana + Green - both environmentally and fiscally.

My background is a track record of accomplished leadership and a proven lifetime commitment to community. I have been President of the Sandpointe Neighborhood Association, Gang/Drug Prevention Coordinator, founding Chairman of Santa Ana's neighborhood umbrella group "Com-Link", chaired the Santa Ana Human Relations Commission, championed the Santa Ana Artists' Village and currently direct a nonprofit that educates the public about the dangers and hidden costs of tobacco use.

I would like our vision as a city to be that "Santa Ana is the most beautiful place on Earth." And why should we not expect one day to find the most beautiful place on Earth - next to the happiest?

With your help and your vote, we can make this happen.

Vote for "Walking the Talk".

Thank you.

Jim Walker
