Candidate for
Council Member; City of Los Alamitos

I am a native Californian, somewhat rare today, but born in Los Angeles. I've majored in Business Administration at both Cerritos Community College and Orange Coast College.

In addition, I have taken project management, accounting, human relations and business courses at the Cooper Institute of Health. I was a manager for the former Jack LaLane Fitness Facilities from 1986 until 2002. Sadly, most of the locations were destroyed or severely damaged during the Rodney King riots. I became owner of Shape Up America, a community center in Inglewood, which provided health and fitness programs for inter city families with food and school supplies. This was in partnership with Hungry and Hurt Food Bank.

I've been the general manager for the 24 hr. Fitness Center, originally in Los Alamitos until we enlarged and relocated to the City of Cypress. We still service thousands of members every day in our community and I'm very proud of the programs we offer and the folks -- young and old -- who are benefiting from the instruction and physical exercies.

As a community oriented business, we have been involved in events and activities. This includes a sponsor for the past seven years for the Los Alamitos "Race on the Base" at the Joint Forces Training Base. This has been more than $10,000 in financial support for an event that attracts more than 2,000 runners and participants.

Individually, I'm proud that we have managed to provide more than $30,000 in training equipment for use by the USA Men's and Women's Water Polo Teams that are housed at the USA Olympic Pool at the Base. This pool is critical to our community and provides water safety programs and swimming opportunities every single day of the week, in addition to more than eight community groups who train at the pool. It is open to the public for instruction as well as lap swimming.

I am married and resident in Los Alamitos with my wife and 12 year old son. We enjoy the safe environment and quality of life available here. I will work to provide strong support for our law enforcement services, for the parks and leisure programs, for our younger residents and those in our senior community. Los Alamitos has a rich tradition of family that I will strive to retain.
