Candidate for La Habra City Council

Born in Harbor City and raised in Cerritos, Mike Shapiro initiated his life's journey of leadership and responsibility to family values, service and team-work at the age of 6 when he began his lifetime affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America.

Those very core values of service before self advanced his inspiration of advanced education, so much so that he began taking classes at Cerritos College while still a Sophomore in high school, where he went on to secure the prestigious Eagle Scout award,

A lifetime Republican since the day he could vote, Mike Shapiro's first vote was for Ronald W. Reagan as President of the United States. The Reagan profile of `America First' inspired Mike Shapiro to join the United States Navy in 1985 where his advanced science and technology interests prompted the Navy to assign him to the Nuclear Submarine USS Phoenix where he served on-board as an Electronics Technician.

With Mike's background and stellar performance records as member of the elite submarine service, he was given Top Secret Clearance to handle sensitive and `classified' materials instrumental to national defense.

After serving honorably in the Navy, Mike departed as a Second Class Petty Officer (E-5/ET2) and joined the civilian world as a management consultant for the health industry at Pacificare. His experience and talents leveraged, Mike went on to take responsibilities as Chief Operations/ Chief Information Officer at a marketing firm in Chatsworth.

His commercial value to technology now at a premium, Mike went on to serve overseas with the consulting to the US Army in Wurtzburg, Germany and ultimately to a premier position in computer sciences for 9 years at the Hughes/Raytheon facility.

Mike Shapiro's blend of experience, the disciplines of military service and corporate functionality and security clearances lead him to his current occupation as a Network Engineer for the West Covina Police Department the last 5 years and contracts and service agreements with 25 other Law Enforcement agencies in the southland and California, including agencies in Nevada.

Mike remains actively involved in Scouting and directs his sons' effort to secure the prestigious Eagle Scout designation, signifying the highest order of disciplines, survival, responsibility and service to God and Country before self.

Mike is a conservative Republican, tested in his lifetime of trials and challenges, and firmly against taxes, big government and negligent leadership.

Mike is a recent graduate in studies that lead to his receiving his BS degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix with a minor in Visual Communications.
