BIOGRAPHY DR. ARTURO JOSE LOMELI

Arturo Jose Lomeli, DDS owns and operates his own business as an established dentist in downtown Santa Ana. He is proud of the fact that he was the first in his family to be recruited to college. He attended Orange Coast College and later transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles. He accepted a unique opportunity to attend a Science summer program at Harvard University and returned to obtain his undergraduate degree in Biology from California State University, Fullerton. In 1981, he was accepted to the School of Dentistry at the University of California, San Francisco. His graduation was marked with honor for his family and initiated his drive to reach out and support the community. Dr. Lomeli has served as an adjunct professor in the School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California. During his academic tenure, he helped develop a student health organization devoted to preparing students applying for professional schools. He enjoys tutoring and mentoring students to help them excel in academia and define their academic dreams.

Dr. Lomeli has a record of community volunteerism, involvement, and professional expertise. He is a commissioner with the City of Santa Ana and has held numerous executive positions in local business associations and community organizations. Dr. Lomeli has received several prestigious recognitions. He was recently honored with the Distinguished Service Award presented by the Kiwanis of Santa Ana for his many hours of service to the community, including his donation of professional dental care to students with financial challenges.

Dr. Lomeli was born in Zacapu, Michoacan, a small town in Mexico. His father was recruited to work in the United States under the "Bracero Program" and the family immigrated in 1963. Dr. Lomeli is the eldest of 7 children. He was reared in a family of modest means, began to work at an early age, and learned life lessons of dedication, strong ethics and honest values. He currently lives in Orange Park Acres with his wife and his three children, ages 24, 19 and 16. His youngest daughter attends Villa Park High School, and his two older children attend Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College.

Dr. Lomeli is currently interested in serving as a Governing Board Member for the Rancho Santiago Community College District. As a life-long resident of the district, educator, professional and parent of community college students, he understands the issues, challenges and opportunities for current and future generations.
