I pledge to make Garden Grove a better place to live, work, and play

My name is Steve Jones. I was born and raised in Garden Grove and have lived in town my entire life, except for my college years spent in Los Angeles and overseas. I attended Garden Grove schools from kindergarten through high school and received a quality education. I know every nook and cranny of the city. Prior to being on City Council, I served for seven years on the Planning Commission, with 3 terms as Chairman. My background includes an MBA degree from the University of Southern California, graduating with honors for high scholastic achievement, with a dual emphasis in Finance and Real Estate Development. I have owned and operated a successful Garden Grove based investment firm since 2001. I am old enough to know where the city came from and young enough to have a vision for where it is heading.

I am someone who enjoys bringing people together to accomplish great things. I have experienced genuine human connections with people throughout the city, both young and old, rich and poor, and from every race and creed. I see a unique opportunity in Garden Grove to embrace our broad cultural diversity, proclaim it as our greatest asset, and leverage it into an economic and social engine that drives prosperity and quality of life for years to come.

As a proud husband and father of two young children, I care very much about the environment my family lives in. I am excited about all the changes taking place around town, but concerned about maintaining the city's aging infrastructure and mitigating the inherent problems associated with rapid growth. I enjoy acting as a "bridge" to City Hall by helping streamline activities that require government oversight. I am very proactive about fostering private investment into the community and I will never let "process" stand in the way of "progress." It is my utmost desire to make Garden Grove a better place to live, work, and play for everyone.

Serving as a Garden Grove City Councilmember has been a great honor. I view my official role with the city as a community service, not a job or a stepping stone to get somewhere else. I will never let my own ego or any personal agenda cloud my judgment or distract me from serving the public interest. I respectfully ask for your support to continue my work on behalf of the residents and taxpayers of Garden Grove for another term in office.
