Since 1984, Mr. Boyd has been the President of William Howard Taft University. The University is part of The Taft University System, Inc. which includes Taft Law School. William Howard Taft University and Taft Law School are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council.

William Howard Taft University presently offers programs in education and business through the doctorate level. Taft Law School offers programs in law including a Juris Doctor Program which qualifies its graduates for the California Bar Examination.

Mr. Boyd has served as an on-site evaluator on numerous accreditation site visitation teams for various accrediting bodies. He has also been elected to two terms as the Distance Law School representative to the Law School Council of the State Bar of California.

Two of Mr. Boyd's children gradated from Orange Coast College. Both went on to earn graduate degrees, one from the University of Southern California, the other from California State University Fullerton.
