With today's busy schedule we do not have all the time we need to thoroughly research each candidate. Please see the short description of what is important to Rich and why he is running.

As a Mission Viejo Planning and Transportation Commissioner since 2007, Rich is already serving our community. Additionally, for the past 9 years he has been a local volunteer law enforcement Chaplain. Rich and his wife Cheryl actively participate in their church as well as many other community activities. Rich has been a good neighbor to all of us since moving to the city in 2000. Rich possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Communications from Concordia University. Rich holds to the same values that we do: loyalty, honesty, hard work, and compassion for people.

Maintaining public safety is Rich Atkinson's top priority Keeping Mission Viejo America's safest city will always be most important to Rich. He will work to ensure that our law enforcement and firefighting officials have the tools that they need to fight crime and respond to emergencies. He is committed to ensuring that our neighborhoods, community, sport parks, and schools remain safe for our families and visitors.

Rich strongly believes in:

• Not increasing taxes and city fees
• Maintaining a healthy and ample reserve fund
• Protecting our remaining open space
• Helping businesses to thrive and succeed
• Reducing traffic congestion
• Communicating openly/honestly with residents

• Work to enhance services to seniors
• Listen to the concerns of residents
• Support programs that make sense and will enhance the beauty and livability of our city
• Remain responsive to citizens
