Political Philosophy for John M. Alpay
Candidate for |
As the core function of local government is to provide basic services ranging from maintaining our parks and beaches to improving traffic conditions to providing public safety, the city must ensure that these core functions relied upon by our business community are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner. At the same time, our city government must be accountable to business by maintaining a friendly business environment. My general philosophy towards government is that it be limited in nature, operate in a financially responsible manner and be as minimally intrusive as possible. Government has often tried to micromanage business, often leading to disastrous results. Instead, the city should allow business leaders to take the initiative with minimal government interference. The city should concentrate on delivering core services effectively and efficiently, in line with proposed budget and in cooperation with our business leaders. |
