A vote for me is a vote for positive change!

By Gloria J. Alkire

Candidate for Council Member; City of Newport Beach; District 2

This information is provided by the candidate
The City of Newport Beach is an incredible place to live, work, and raise families. As a candidate for the City Council representing District #2, I offer you a new vision, new leadership, and representation dedicated to protecting our values and quality of life. A vote for me will send a clear message you want government to change its direction and assist Newport Beach to improve its community. I will work with your City Council to promote the sponsorship of State legislation to strictly regulate "Group Homes", by reducing the definition of a "single family" from up to 6 unrelated people to no more than 3 people. Furthermore, group homes should operate as originally intended in the Lanterman Act passed in the 1970's; provide family support for children with developmental disabilities, or care for our non-ambulatory senior citizens. Additionally, let's work to preserve the Banning Ranch open space wetlands and limit bluff top development to active and passive recreation. Lastly, I will collaborate with fellow Council members to permanently extend the John Wayne Airport nighttime curfew and oppose any airport expansion. Remember, a vote for me is a vote for positive change!
