Continue the Progress + Improve Our Quality of Life

  • Central Marina

My vision for Marina includes a safe community with a diversified economy, quality jobs, a vibrant downtown, and housing for all income groups, recreation opportunities, services for seniors, youth programs, and our own high school. I will retain the family-oriented close community known for diversity and openness.

I believe that the Government belongs to the people and its business must be conducted in the open with integrity and professionalism.

My goal is very similar to other Marina Citizens; I want my children to have a better life than I had. I want them to get a good education, go to college and get a good job which has upward mobility and, provides them with the ability to buy a home in Marina, and raise a family.

My vision of Marina is a place that provides the opportunity for anyone, from any background to achieve his/her dreams. We are a city that welcomes everyone and provides opportunity for all who are willing to work hard to succeed.

We, as a city, must work with the commercial and industrial development community to improve our jobs/ housing balance. We need to work with the development community to make sure they develop high-end jobs which will allow our workers to buy homes in Marina. We need to make sure we maintain, or bring online, sufficient affordable rental housing to allow those just starting out in life to work and live in Marina.

We, as a city, must also take control of our educational system. We cannot stand by and allow the shortcomings of our state leadership to flush our children's future down the drain. We must act now to take control and make sure our children get the best education available.

We, as a city, must also make sure we provide the services and infrastructure needed to attract high end businesses and employees. We need to make sure we develop enough retail sales taxes and hotel TOT to provide the necessary income to support the development of the needed infrastructure.

We, as a city, are lucky to have CSUMB as our neighbor. We need to embrace the university and have them choose Marina as their front door. A close relationship with the university can give Marina access to the university's technology resources and intellectual capital.

Equally important, we, as a city, must focus on our downtown to make sure our current residents do not get left behind. While the developers focus on developing Marina Heights, The Dunes, and Marina Station. We, the current citizens, need to make sure our downtown gets developed so we can have a variety of shops, good restaurants and live entertainment in our downtown.

Marina needs a leader who can be trusted, has the time and the best interest of the people at heart. I am that leader.
