We need to be much more focused on finding ways to increase our budget every year until all of our departments are running at maximum capacity and efficiency.

Our streets are a constant concern for most residents and although Measure N is a step in the direction of fixing them, it will only generate $2 million dollars per year for 10 years; not enough to address our $150 million dollar mess. My plan would be to implement a batch factory here in our city that would create the materials needed to fix our streets while also creating a marketable substance to sell to other communities.

My vision for public safety within our city is to have the capability and funding to create a Gang and Drug Suppression Unit to keep the gang situation under control and to prevent drug usage and drug production in our area. We must support our police department 100% for the good of our community, and anything less is UNACCEPTABLE.

We must invest in our youth during their formidable years by providing useful and positive activities including youth sports programs, jobs to develop career skills, and safe recreational facilities. In addition, our community needs to address the needs of our elderly as well. We are in dire need of in home health care, assisted living facilities, and skilled nursing facilities. We need to work with the hospital to recruit quality doctors to fill the void of good medical care in our community.

Obviously, it takes money to fund these projects. My vision of creating revenue includes the following:

  • Implement city-wide recycling program to recoup valuable dollars lost in the dumpsters
  • Be vigorous in grant writing to help city attain usable tax dollars
  • Find ways to market our city to other businesses such as solar and wind companies
  • Find ways to attract people to our city through signature events in our city
  • Create and implement batch plant to off set road costs

I believe that I have the vision and ambition required to move this city forward. I have served on several boards of directors, and in doing so it gave me the understanding that it is great to be assertive and passionate on issues, but it is also okay to know when it is necessary to compromise with the other members for the good of the organization. The only promise I will make during this election is I will serve the citizens of Ridgecrest whole heartedly, and do the will of the community with integrity.
