Measure D. Transaction and Use Tax -- City of Eureka (Majority Approval Required)

Shall the Eureka Municipal Code be amended to add a one quarter of one percent (0.25%) transaction and use tax to fund essential services such as police, fire, street maintenance, environmental programs, and parks and recreation? Should the tax be approved by voters the existing three percent (3%) utility user tax would be repealed.

Measure "I" asks the voters whether the City of Trinidad should approve a 0.75% (three-quarters of 1%) increase to the transaction and use tax rate (commonly known as the "sales tax") for four years. Voter approval of this Measure would implement this 0.75% tax as described below, for a period of four years only, effective April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2013.
