Improving student achievement at all levels and for all children is my top priority and focus.

While other districts laid off many teachers and and support staff this year, Fresno Unified did not. Sound budgeting practices and healthy reserves allowed us to continue improving our programs for students.

I will remain focused on our goals. All students will:

1. Excel in reading, writing and math.
2. Participate in sports, arts or other activities.
3. Demonstrate the character and competencies for workplace and life success.
4. Stay in school on target to graduate.

I have worked to set Fresno Unified in the right direction. I understand the task that is still before us. I have the expertise, experience and inner strength to see the job through.
